Volunteer Hop launches across the Western Bay

A brand-new community event is hopping into Te Puke, Katikati, and Waihī Beach, inviting locals of all ages to explore volunteering in a fun, feel-good way. Walk, bike, or drive between nearby locations, meet volunteer groups in action, collect stamps along the way, and see the impactful work happening in your community, with free ice cream for participants!

The Volunteer Hop is a free, self-guided challenge designed to be easy, local, and welcoming. Each event starts at a central hub, where participants receive a map and challenge card before heading off to explore. Complete the hop and go in the draw to win other fantastic prizes while soaking up the buzz of your neighbourhood.

“We know there are so many incredible volunteer groups doing amazing work across the Western Bay,” says Volunteering Services Manager, Angela Wallace.

Excitement is building as Volunteering Services launches the first-ever Volunteer Hop!

“The Volunteer Hop is a friendly, fun event over several locations to see volunteering firsthand, meet the people behind it, and maybe even find a cause they’d love to be part of.”

Where to join in on the fun:

  • Te Puke – 21 February: Te Puke War Memorial Hall, 130 Jellicoe St.
  • Katikati – 28 February: Pātuki Manawa (Katikati Library Digital Hub), 21 Main Rd.
  • Waihī Beach – 8 March: Waihī Beach Community Centre, 106 Beach Rd.

Open to all ages and backgrounds, each Volunteer Hop runs from 10:00am to 1:00pm. Join the fun, connect with your community, and see the impact volunteering can have!

Volunteer groups in Te Puke, Katikati, and Waihī Beach are warmly invited to register for the Volunteer Hop. By opening your doors on the day, you can showcase your mahi and connect with people curious about volunteering.
